Maxine's 21st Birthday bash

This evening ended with a surprise we had been planning for a long time. Whilst Maxine, Tina and I went out to buy bread that became 'very urgently required' the rest of the contingent prepared the dining hall for a little surprise we had in store for Maxine.

Yesterday, Josephine clandestinely baked a big chocolate cake and this afternoon Tina decorated it with melted chocolate, smarties and candles (we still sustain that she ate more chocolate than she put on the cake - but the end result was excellent).

Purely by chance (...), today happened to be our shopping day - giving us time to buy a card and a present for her. We planned to give her a special birthday surprise and we seemed to have managed.

After the celebration we went down to the campsite for a campfire and some songs. The wood was wet and hard to light but in the end we managed. Suppost min jistona ma jkantax - imma kulhadd kanta xi naqra.

The campfire ended with the traditional Kumbaya - a fitting ending to a very good evening.

The shopping spree

It is absolutely and astoundingly ridiculous how much time some people can spend looking around in shops and buying stuff they will never need and which has no chance of fitting in their luggage. Even the coach driver was speechless. British Airways are considering leasing one of the Airbus planes they use to ferry aircraft parts just for our flight...

After a straight six hours of shopping and some sightseeing, we have come to the conclusion that there are a lot of Colleges that make up the University of Oxford, and that most shops will now need to close down to re-stock after our visit.

I'm appalled.

After the shopping spree we all went back to the campsite secretly fearing the time we'll need to pack up - sometime tomorrow.

Being the last night, we're planning a relaxed dinner and a campfire - and also a something special which we'll be posting later.

Shopping day...

As I write this, we're waiting for the coach to take us to Oxford City for some sightseeing and some shopping.

The weather is a bit overcast but we should not be having any rain. Everyone is looking forward to the shopping expedition so the weather is not really a major concern.

Yesterday we had to move the contingent to a new building on the campsite because the one we were in was double-booked. The new building is called Camp HQ and is way better than the one we were in. (Photos later)

In the meantime Leli and Ian are busy trying to catch an elusive wild rabbit. Its a bit like watching Roadrunner and Coyote cartoon...

As our supply of clean clothes diminishes, it begins to dawn on us that the PL Adventure is coming to an end. Morale is still very high but now fatigue is setting in.

More updates later.
